First, I very much enjoyed the event the other night at USM.

Although I regularly write my senators urging them to support many initiatives, among them climate change legislation, I was particularly inspired this morning (10/02), and wrote the following to both senators:

"I woke this morning to the wonderful news that President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

This was based on his ability to calm and unify the world with messages of hope and change at a desperate time. Among those was his promise to address climate change with meaningful legislation. It is well recognized that the award was given based on promises only because at the time the choice was made Obama was only in his second week and hadn't had the time to back these promises up with action.

This historically unprecedented award is a cry of support from our world's best representatives to carry out these promises—it should be recognized as a mandate from all the citizens of the world.

I call on you now more that ever to use this momentum to join the ranks of these most revered representatives and aggressively speak in support of climate change legislation. Let's give OUR support to President Obama to carry out his promises to our nation and all the nations of the world"

I wanted to share this in hopes that other NRCMer's might find similar inspiration from this news.
