Tomorrow, several NRCM staff members will be heading out into our local community to winterize two houses for families who need to ensure that their houses are as energy efficient as possible before the start of another cold Maine winter.
Unfortunately, due to other commitments, I am not going to be able to be on the NRCM winterizing team, but I wanted to say that I think it's a wonderful endeavor, and I know that many other organizations and Maine citizens will be lending their time, talents and energy to help others around the state as part of the Keep ME Warm program. If you are one of those groups or individuals, we would love to hear from you and see pictures of where you were working in your community.
One of the things I love the most about NRCM is that while we are very focused on our work to protect Maine's environment, we find opportunities to get out into the community to really put our work into practice and help others when we can. We know the importance of energy efficiency and winterizing homes - and so many of our staff will be getting out tomorrow to help those who need a little extra assistance this year in preparing for cold weather.
If you want more information about the Keep ME Warm program or how to winterize your own home, I encourage you to visit the Maine Housing Authority website at http://www.mainehousing.org. They have videos to watch, materials to read, and information about getting involved.
