Tomorrow the first of the public hearings about Plum Creek's massive development proposal for the Moosehead Lake region begin in Greenville. We are encouraging people to attend one of the four hearings (find a list of dates and locations of the hearings at www.nrcm.org/pc_action.asp) and speak out against this plan.
As our executive director Brownie Carson said in June, 2007: “Maine has one chance to get it right for Moosehead. This is our heritage, a special place we have inherited from those who came before us. Seattle-based Plum Creek will come and go, but the people of Maine will live with the decisions made in this rezoning process forever. We will not sit idly by and allow the company to destroy what people love about Maine’s beautiful Moosehead region.”
Many thanks for your interest in the public hearings. We haven't been back at the office to post anything new about how the hearings went, but hope to have that information posted tomorrow or Tuesday. In the meantime, I have posted some of the news reports from the hearings on our website at www.nrcm.org. Again, thank you for your comment, your support, and your interest in the hearings. We will do our best to keep folks updated as events happen.

What happened at the hearings? It's been two days now and your blog is grossly out of date, given that stuff it happening now. Please let us, your faithful, know what's going on by keeping your blog up to date. Not all of us can go to the hearings.

Everyone, please, if you care about Moosehead, attend a hearing, write a letter, tell your friends. Plum Creek continues to put millions into its PR campaign to force Mainers to take this plan. They can be stopped with grassroots efforts! Attend, write, tell your friends!
