The comment below is a snippet from the testimony of an NRCM expert and is a great example of why I am a member and why everyone else should be too. They are the only group out there watchdoggin our public officials (in this case, BEP, regarding outdoor wood burners). Thank you, NRCM.
"From our analysis, we have four primary concerns regarding the draft rulemaking:
• The emissions standards, stack-height and setback requirements for the interim Phase I standard do not adequately protect public health.
• There are not adequate measures to discourage the burning of prohibited fuels.
• Barring the opacity and nuisance clauses, there are no provisions to address air pollution from previously-installed (existing) units or to bring such boilers into compliance with the new regulations.
• The sell-through exemption allows for the continued sale of certain OWB units that, under normal operating conditions, pose a significant public health risk."
